My Health started failing in June 2017, when my health was on and off due to sickness. This resulted in me visiting the clinic for almost three times but nothing seemed to change. I had been looking forward for a change since I had stopped working due to the sickness. Every time I went to the clinic I would be given Septrin, an antibiotic which was not making any change in my health and I continued feeling sick.

James recalled as he was sharing his story that ‘’one day as I was home, Field officer Francis Ponde from DAPP/TIMS Zambia, visited my home as he was doing his door to door screening. He explained a lot about TB, signs and symptoms of which I learnt a lot as he took me through on TB and HIV health education. As we continued to learn from him, after which I was found with TB like symptoms and in the process I admitted to having been feeling unwell for the past one year and seeing no improvements after attending the nearby health facility on various occasions. Therefore, I went for silicosis screening and they told me I had lung problem.’’

Lesotho is one of the fifteen countries with highest per capita case incidence 632/100, 00 (WHO Global Tuberculosis Report 2012). Although notifications remain high, trends in the past five years evidence noticeable steady stabilization with slight decline.

The Southern Africa TB and Health Systems Support Project (SATBHSS) resolved that the four countries namely; Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique establish 24 zones in their respective regions to tackle health related concerns.
